Significant changes include upgrading to OpenSSL 3, an opt-in feature for evaluating Kea DHCP and resolving several bugs and other issues. OpenSSL is a toolkit for general-purpose cryptography and secure communication, and it is an essential component of pfSense Plus software. Kea DHCP is a full-featured, open-source, standards-based DHCP server that will eventually replace ISC DHCP as the default.

Bufferbloat is transitory latency caused by a network device buffering data in excess. Bufferbloat can interfere with time-sensitive traffic like VoIP. The FQ_CODEL limiter scheduler in pfSense Plus software can help alleviate the effects of Bufferbloat.

TNSR software contains a shortcut for creating a basic set of PKI entries for use with the RESTCONF server. This provides a quick, easy, and secure way to allow remote changes to TNSR via the API.

The Netgate 3100 reached “End of Life” (EOL) status on October 22, 2023. Active Technical Assistance Center (TAC) subscriptions will be honored on a supported version of the software.
