The European Union has put a new privacy regulation (GDPR) into place that specifically requires an explicit opt-in to mailing lists, and such. Netgate is all about privacy and security. We're implementing this rule across the board for all of our mailing lists, because let's face it, no one likes spam. Including us.

XG-7100 Desktop

We're excited to announce that the XG-7100 1U pfSense Security Gateways will soon have a little brother, the XG-7100 desktop model. This desktop has all of the same features as the XG-7100 1U.

It will come with 32 GB eMMC storage (upgradable to 256 GB M.2 SATA) and 8 GB DDR4 RAM (upgradable to 24 GB). The only exceptions are that the desktop model will use an external power adapter and there isn't room for an expansion card.

We don't have a link for it just yet, but keep watching. You should see it near the end of June. If you want to be notified when it's available for pre-order, click below.

Keep Me Updated!

Our website gets a facelift

If you're a frequent visitor, you may have noticed that our website has a new look. Most of the navigation is the same, or similar, but we've also added a few new pages.

We know we may still have a few wrinkles to iron out, but take a look. If you're having problems navigating or finding what you need, don't hesitate to shoot us an email and we'll help you get around.

Two things we want to share about TNSR. First, like the newsletter, if you've given us your email address to receive TNSR updates, you'll need to do it again. We'll send out separate emails about it, but signing up early will get you out of those additional emails.

TNSR Updates

More importantly, along with the new website, we've added more TNSR documentation, including a Platform Overview and a Data Sheet. You can find the new documentation at the bottom of our new TNSR page.

As mentioned previously, the initial release will be as an Amazon Machine Image (AMI), available on the AWS Marketplace. But, it is also planned for availability through other cloud service providers, as a bare metal software instance for appliances, a virtual machine instance, and a cloud native container.

We're not going to have a booth or speaking engagements, but stop them to say hi if you see any of them. Jim is authorized to buy a drink or two if you catch him at the right time.

Tip of the month

This month's Why To Series paper is about the the powerful options available from the serial and video console menus called pfSense Console Menu - Part 1Click the button to download the PDF.

Why To

May Gold Monthly Hangout

The live May 2018 Gold Monthly Hangout has been cancelled.

We know you've come to rely on them for your monthly pfSense fix, and Jim does a great job in presenting them. Unfortunately, GDPR is the main focus and it goes into effect on May 25, 2018. This just so happens to coincide with the last Friday of the month, the same day Jim does his Hangouts.

But not to fear, Jim will be back next month. Check back here to find out the topic.

P.S. And don't forget to opt-in or you won't be receiving next month's newsletter telling you what the topic is going to be. ;)
