ESL Gaming Uses TNSR Software at DreamHack Dallas
DreamHack is an immersive gaming lifestyle experience, recognized by the Guinness Book of Records as the biggest LAN party with the world's fastest Internet connection. Netgate worked with DreamHack to upgrade its IT infrastructure with TNSR software on Netgate hardware to offer more powerful, secure networking capabilities and large-scale network address translation capabilities on the DreamHack network.
We recently interviewed DreamHack to learn more about how TNSR software fulfills their unique networking needs. If you haven't already seen it, click below to read their story.
You already know the Netgate 6100 with pfSense Plus software. We're considering another offering - the Netgate 6100 with TNSR software pre-installed. If you've been interested in TNSR, this could be a cost-effective way to try it out.
We're also considering an option to include a rack mount with the Netgate 6100, but we'd like to get your opinion.
If TNSR software on a Netgate 6100 is of interest to you, we'd like you to take a short survey. There are only two questions, and it shouldn't take you more than a minute or two to complete. We'd really like to hear what you think!
Want to try out TNSR now? We offer a TNSR Home+Lab evaluation version of the software at no charge for non-commercial use. You can try it out using your own hardware or virtual machine.
Pronounced “tensor”, TNSR software is a high-performance software router based on FD.io’s Vector Packet Processing (VPP), of which Netgate is a leading contributor. You can learn more about it on our Get to Know TNSR page. To learn more about an evaluation Home+Lab version and see how to sign up, click below.
You may already know Zero Trust is currently a hot topic. We recently wrote a blog and released a video about using Tailscale, a software-defined mesh VPN solution, on pfSense software. If you missed the blog it is linked below.
The video is hosted on YouTube and is about 30 minutes long. It goes in depth on the topic and is well presented by Netgate engineer Christian McDonald. If Zero Trust is a topic of interest for you, or you just want to learn more about it, click below.
Networks with critical uptime requirements benefit from using pfSense software in a High Availability configuration. A High Availability (HA) configuration utilizes two identical appliances, each running pfSense software, in an active/passive type of cluster arrangement. We highly encourage customers with mission-critical configurations to run HA in case of an appliance failure.
Not all systems running pfSense software need to be configured in a HA arrangement, but if uptime is critical, it's one more layer of redundancy to ensure your network is up and running.
We've recently published an educational blog post that explains HA in more detail and includes links to the pfSense documentation to explain further and guide you in the HA configuration. Click below for all of the details.

The Netgate customer base spans industries, time zones, and business needs. Netgate offers different levels of Technical Assistance Center (TAC) support subscriptions to accommodate the wide variety of pfSense users and companies. When you purchase a TAC subscription for each firewall, the support is tied to the appliance's Netgate Device ID (NDI). That enables anyone from your team to utilize the expertise of our TAC engineers - 24/7/365, simply by providing us the NDI.
Here is a simple breakdown of each tier of support:
TAC Lite support is included at no charge when purchasing a Netgate appliance, cloud instance, or virtual machine. It is our guarantee of Zero-to-Ping support to get your firewall connected to the internet and one client on the same network online.
TAC Pro provides 24/7/365 support with a 24 hour service level agreement and email support. Open a ticket with our TAC team and get the help you need, via email, any hour of the day.
TAC Enterprise support is also available 24/7/365! When time is of the essence, Enterprise support offers a 4 hour service level agreement. Support can be utilized via email or by phone. Give our TAC team a call to get one-on-one support, whenever you need it.
All levels of TAC support include access to pfSense Plus software updates.
To renew or purchase a TAC subscription, click here! Please note, you will need each NDI to enable TAC support.
